UPS
Overview
A battery backup power unit that you plug Network and Server gear (or really important computers) into in order to help those devices survive brownouts or short loss of electricity. Associated with this is a PDU (power distribution unit) which is really just a fancy power strip. Another fringe benefit of this is the way some of these devices (pure sinewave) can regulate the incoming power and protect devices from surges that could otherwise damage them.
